Dear friends,
starting today, our email verification service can detect disposable / temporary Gmail and Outlook addresses, which are often used to sign up for websites or services while bypassing the existing disposable email address (DEA) detection Verifalia already provides.
While other types of disposable emails use specific domain names that are easily distinguishable, these special addresses, often but not always in a form like ma.i.lb.ox+r4nd0m@gmail.com
, may look legitimate because they are hosted by the largest email service providers and can actually receive emails without bouncing. However, they should be removed from your mailing lists because they lead to fake registrations and false engagement.
Of course, this new feature only applies to disposable mailboxes: regular Gmail and Outlook email addresses, including those using plus addressing or dots, are still treated as before by our AI.
How to Block Disposable Gmail and Outlook Emails
This new, exclusive Verifalia feature is available to all our users and does not require any adjustments or configuration on your end: from now on, Verifalia's AI engine classifies disposable or temporary Gmail and Outlook addresses as Risky
with the status MailboxIsDea
.
If needed, you can easily customize this classification through the classification scheme interface in our client area to suit your specific business needs; to customize your classification scheme, navigate to Email verifications ➤ Account defaults ➤ Classification scheme in your client area.
How to avoid these fake emails on your website
Similarly, users relying on our free email verification widget to automatically block invalid emails on their websites' contact and registration forms do not need to make any changes, as the widget already automatically blocks all kinds of disposable email addresses, including the ones we now detect; check out the widget documentation for additional options.
